Smoke barriers and smoke
curtains, in particular, are a passive protection system that allows large spaces to be compartmentalised and smoke to be conveyed to the evacuation systems, whether natural or forced, present in industrial, hospitality, airport and commercial structures. Certified in compliance with the UNI EN 12101-1:2006 regulation, which specifies the performance requirements, classification and test methods, smoke barriers offer a high degree of protection and can be made to measure.
Classification of smoke barriers
Smoking barriers can be classified into three categories:
- ASB1: Smoke barriers which are brought, fail-safe, into the safety position with a maximum deployment of 2.5m and with controlled descent, even when all primary and auxiliary power sources are removed, in the event of a failure of the electrical system, the system or any combination of these;
- ASB3: smoke barriers compliant with type ASB1, deployable at any height without the 2.5 metre limit;
- SB: static smoke barriers, which are activated only in the event of a fire alarm and/or a blackout for more than 6 hours, therefore the lack of mains power does not affect their correct functioning.
Control Unit
The smoke barriers produced by Eurosafe Italia in Bologna have a control unit that sends an activation signal to the motor in the event of a fire. Once the signal is received, the motor starts and the curtain proceeds to lower. The flexibility of the system allows for on-site programming of the control and coordination parameters of the tubular operators of the smoke and heat barriers.
